The IAABC Animal Behavior Consulting Principles & Practice Course is a unique twelve-week, multi-module course providing a comprehensive overview of the many facets of animal behavior consulting for all species. The course is appropriate for experienced behavior consultants and practitioners as well as those newer to the field with a strong interest in animal behavior. The course features weekly on-line meetings with a Course Mentor discussing each learning module.

Students should expect to spend an average of 8-10 hours per week on course material and viewing, depending on individual speed of learning and week's materials. Weekly group mentor meetings via video conference (scheduled for one evening per week in your time zone), and a multi-week functional assessment assignment are also requirements for successful completion of the course.

Requirements for the Course

Additional articles and links are also required reading throughout the course. These will be provided after the course begins.

In order to move through the course, you will need:

  • a stable Internet connection
  • a webcam for web chat meetings and a headset microphone if your computer audio isn't sufficient for online web meetings.
  • a working email address
  • the ability to open and read PDF files
  • The course content is designed to be accessed on any computer or mobile device that has Adobe Flash or HTML5 capability.
  • Mentor online weekly meetings are mandatory. Students who miss more than two meetings will not receive credit for the course.
