Crisis Response

In response to the impact this COVID-19 crisis is having on our community, the IAABC Crisis Response Page offers the following resources. A full virtual puppy curriculum, additional scripts to “stand in front of work,” and more videos will be added throughout the next several days, so come back for updates.

The Pandemic Handbook

This business-oriented handbook covers information and help with assessing your business, looking at options for here and now and in the future, links and material regarding loans and programs (this is primarily US based right now but we’ll be updating it with more international information as we get it), how-tos on using technology to gain and maintain business, classes and consultations, payment options and how to use them, and even scripts for talking to clients and creditors like your landlord.

The Dog Trainer’s Handbook

This is a full Manners curriculum suitable for sharing with clients. It can be used as a stand-alone handbook or reviewed and worked through with your clients via remote consults and lessons. It can be used for new puppies and for adult dogs, and importantly as maintenance training exercises for our behavior clients to avoid decay of learned skills.

Stand in Front of Work

We want our people to be the first and last resource anyone looking for training and behavior work finds. We want people to trip over us when they’re looking! We’ve compiled literally thousands of contacts from animal control to police to other public and governmental agencies one can reach out to to make their business and offers known. Scripts are also included on how to approach these resources, so you’ll be the first person they think of when they need professional help with training or behavior in the community.

Videos

The Pandemic Handbook videos feature some of our members - Michael Baugh, Mike Shikashio, and Anthony De Marinis - not just discussing, but showing clips from and demonstrating how to do virtual consults, best practices for them, and what they look like in real life.
